What can you do?

Wednesday 30 November 2016

So lately, I've been meeting with some youth around the city I live in to find ways we can help make the world a better place, starting with our communities. It has been such a great journey.  It was great to have a deep conversation with intellectual people who share the same values as me & have the same heart.

So the question is... "What can you do?"

Being a mother, you know how cruel and dark the world can be and at this time, you can see things which make you feel sorry as a mother that your child has to live in a world of hate. So you want to help make a change and hope it's a better world for your children. There are many young people who find they don't fit in, who change their identities to be liked or accepted. There are many others also who feel pressured and all these feelings and emotions lead into a downward spiral which mostly ends with Suicide. So what we can do to help?

  • Find ways to connect to the youth (both young and older)
  • Invite them to local events that encourage a positive living.
  • Find time to hang out with them and engage in their leisure activities.
  • Talk to them without judgment, you have to earn their trust.
  • Respect is a 2 way street, so respect them also.
  • Make them feel loved, valued and appreciated.
  • Create a friendship and give them that sense of security

It's about knowing how to face situations. We often hear about the things happening to our youth but even they too don't know how to to deal with certain issues. So it's up to us (older ones) to steer them in the right direction and how to overcome the challenges they are facing or yet to face. We are all in this together, if we want change, we need to BE THE CHANGE! and like a domino effect, it will pass on to others and so on and so forth.
